PCI Express vs Sata SSD?

Ok, i am looking to buy a gaming Rig. I have basicly found all the parts except for the hard drive. I decided to go for a solid state drive. When researching them, i found that the PCI express SSD have read & write speed considerbly higher than the SATA drives. So i came to my question, “What is the difference between and PCI express and Sata2? Can both be used as hard drives?” Any useful feedback would be much appreciated.
